Being the other half, I can do nothing but agree with Dan on all his points. I have never before played a game that felt so “clunky” so late on in it’s life. Fail SOE simply fail!
When they make players transfer, you can’t take your house with you right? You just move your Char over like WoW?
I think if they added some non combat options to WoW all other MMO’s would just down their servers and give up. Could you imagine WoW with player housing (instanced probably). Or with some sort of Trading system for exp and some sort of trading points (different items then the AH and each city would have a supply/demand based on trade). Maybe even some mini games? With a ladder system for the games?
I agree with many of your points Komplex, in fact it would keep me attracted to Warcraft far more than now.
When you transfer servers, you can take your house with you, you can’t take your vendor’s or items within them across. Even still with that addition it is not worth staying just for a bit of house building.
Wow.. that’s really poor support… a 6 year old flaw lol?!?
I think that’s one of the things that really sets Blizzard up above the rest. I think even recently this year they released a patch for Starcraft, which is like a 10 year old game, which is just amazing support.
In many ways, I think Star Wars Galaxies was my discovery during more innocent days that just because a company hypes up their product hugely with spiffy looking trailers doesn’t mean it will be amazing. I knew the support for SWG was embarrassing, but six year flaws haven’t been fixed? Yikes!
I still look fondly back at the old days when Crafting actually meant something in the game. It may have had bugs and wasn’t perfect, but it’s far better than what it is now. From what I hear the SWGemu Project is trying to ressurect that. Have any of you guys had any experience with that?
I have not tried the emulator yet, though the crafting system was something that made me happy too. I remember it being the only game I got two accounts for, one trader, one combat.
That is how good the trading was in the game, it has gone now though.
